Knollwood Country Club
West Bloomfield, Michigan This 18-hole, 1920s era private club, with reported ties to Donald Ross, received a complete bunker face lift in the fall of 2001. The goal of the renovation included restoring the bunkers to a sod-rolled, flat-bottomed style that was more indicative of the “traditional” style of architecture for which Ross’ era was known. The style is classic; the look is undeniably dramatic. And the course is more maintenance friendly from a sand perspective, which suits the superintendent just fine.
