Deep-tine aerifying prior to sand top-dressing

Lake Villa , Illinois  Since completing a major renovation of the Lakes Community High School football field (click for more), LSF has revisited the school on an annual basis to aerify and sand top-dress the field. The purpose of this maintenance practice is to effectively enhance the drainage and air circulation in the soil profile. Ignoring this crucial input can lead to layering and compaction, which affects the drainage of the soil and prevents good rooting of the turf, which is crucial for it to hold up to the beating caused by football traffic.

Field renovations

Initial field renovations included crown re-establishment in the middle and aerfication / sand top-dressing along the field edges.
