PROJECT NOTES
Known for its frequent tendency to induce the dreaded sextuple bogey, this par 3 golf hole underwent a green reconstruction in Fall of 2008. The existing surface was so slopey that putts often ended up off the front of the green and 20' down the approach embankment. Hence the high scores. The renovation called for the softening of the slopes while keeping the holes infamous character intact. In order to minimize expense and ensure compatibility with the course's other 17 greens, the existing sod and top-dressing layer were stripped and salvaged. Following subgrade adjustment, the sand layer was replaced and supplemented with a 7:2:1 construction mix. The sod was relaid in the exact order it was removed. To facilitate better drainage, a slit drain system was also installed on 6' intervals. All agree, the final product is a far superior putting complex and an agronomic success story.
